Hi friends!! I went to Solvang with my family just before the New Year, and I wanted to share some of our day trip. I've talked about it before, but it's one of my favorite places in the entire state. It's an authentic Danish town just out of a story book about 2-3 hours north of Los Angeles. Here are some photos from while we were there:

While there are many bakeries to stop in for bite, one shop we always, always make time for is the Old Danish Food Farm Fudge Kitchen - the best fudge & soft pretzels ever!! I look forward to those two things big time.

The nice thing about this little town is the opportunity for window shopping. Sure, there's plenty to buy, but the whole point of it is to stroll in and out of the shops and down the decorative avenues. It's relaxing to just take the time to browse around and enjoy the sites - all of the stores there are unique, so you won't find them anywhere else! Jule Haus is one of our favorites. It's a Christmas-all-year store that has beautiful, timeless ornaments and other Christmas decor.

There real Christmas trees placed all over town!
My absolute favorite thing about Solvang is all of the quaint inns and B&B's. They are just adorable! I've stayed overnight at a couple of different ones before (so sorry, I forget their names!), and you can imagine just how cozy it is to fall asleep and wake up in such a charming place. It's the perfect spot for an overnight if you ever want to get out of town for a bit, but beware - they book up fast. Best to plan your stay in advance.

It was unusually crowded there this year. When I've gone in the past, crowds and parking were never much of an issue. Maybe it's because we went on the Sunday between Christmas and New Year's...I'm guessing a lot of people had time off? Anyway, there's free parking all over the place, it just might take some time to find a spot (even when it's not too busy).

So that's that! I miss bogging SO much - I've barely shared anything with you guys, and trust me, I don't want it to be that way at all. Like I mentioned in my previous post, my focus is primarily on my dad. Until he is well, I feel as though I can't devote much time to this community. It pains me to say that, but that's where I'm at. He is supposed to be back to normal within the month of January, but by then we will be in Chicago for the birth of my niece. Although I'm currently unable to keep up frequently here on the blog, I post daily on Instagram still - be sure to follow me @heysweetkay so we can connect more easily! I'm hoping to get some more posts out to you all very soon ❤️ xoxo
