Visiting Magnolia in Waco, TX

by - April 08, 2019

If you aren't familiar with the show Fixer Upper, you may not be acquainted with Magnolia Table & Magnolia Market. It follows realtors/interior designers Chip and Joanna Gaines through Waco, Texas as they flip fixer-upper homes into masterpieces. It's one of my favorite things to watch - I always get so inspired and want everything Joanna has dreamed up! Anyway, while en route to San Antonio I felt it absolutely necessary to make a stop at the "mother land".

We first stopped by Magnolia Table, which is the Gaines' restaurant. It has the most charming architecture, complete with an indoor eating space, an outdoor cafe, and a take-away market. We were only stopping by on the way to San Antonio, and since their was a 20-person line just to put your name down we couldn't stay and eat.

Luckily I was able to snag some pastries at Magnolia Bakery (called the Silos Baking Co.), which is at the Market about 1.5 miles from the restaurant. The Market is SO cute, you guys! It has a little garden and a large outdoor area for families to explore, as well as a big store where you can buy anything from home decor to t-shirts. I loved seeing an actual Chip & Joanna creation in person!!

As for the baked goods (the REAL important part 😉), there was a continuous line the whole time we were there. I was honestly a little surprised they didn't make the bakery and line area bigger, as if they didn't anticipate the size of the crowds that would be making a daily pilgrimage. Anyway, while you're in line you fill out a little card of what you want to order. That way once you get inside, you hand over the card, they prepare your order, and you pay and go. It kept the line moving relatively quickly - I think we only waited about 15 mins!

We decided on a blueberry crumble muffin, a chocolate croissant, a strawberries 'n cream cupcake, and a Prize Pig, which is a bacon & cheddar biscuit. They were all SOOO good! My favorite was the muffin....you know how some muffins just have a little bit of that yummy crumble on top? This one had an entire thick layer of just crumble! I will say though, sadly the muffin was totally hollow on the inside. Still so delicious!!

!I would love to visit Magnolia again one day. I wish I hadn't talked about those pastries....now I'm dreaming of them! 😍 PS - I'm trying to get a vlog together of my trip so I can start up a Youtube channel. I'm not sure if it's going to work out...I'm a MAJOR rookie when it comes to video and video editing haha. I'll keep you posted! xoxo
