Best Made-for-TV Christmas Movies

by - December 25, 2018

Merry Christmas everyone!!! I hope you thoroughly enjoyed the holiday ☺️ I meant to post this yesterday, but I just had sooo much going on with Christmas Eve festive that I didn't get to it. Anyway, if you're anything like me, you'll still be watching Christmas movies all week. There are some that I set to record on DVR every single year! The thing I love about made-for-TV movies, like on Hallmark, Lifetime, and Netflix, are they are so simple....almost mindless. I can just turn them on and enjoy a fun, predictable plot. Yeah, they may be a little dumb - but that's what I love about them haha. Read further for a short summary of each one!

1. A Holiday Engagement
Okay I don't know what it is about this movie - I've seen it before, but for some reason when I watched it a couple weeks ago I was crying laughing! It was seriously so funny!! The characters cracked. Me. Up. Hillary has just been dumped by her lawyer fiancé who decided to pursue his career instead of their relationship. Since it's just days before Thanksgiving and she's desperate to please her family, she hires an actor to pose as her future husband. I love this one and have already watched it twice!

2. Holiday in Handcuffs
An ABC Family (or Freeform now) classic. This one is kind of like A Holiday Engagement and is also super funny! Trudy's boyfriend breaks it off the day she is going home to her critical parents for Christmas, so she kidnaps David to bring along instead...hence the handcuffs. I think this one is particularly great because of the cast; Melissa Joan Hart & Mario Lopez are so good on screen together!

3. 12 Dates of Christmas
I'm not sure why I like this one so much. Something about the story I guess? Kate goes on a blind date and winds up re-living the night over and over again....12 times to be exact. She has to keep doing it over until she gets everything just right. Between getting over her ex-boyfriend and having a change of heart towards her new date, her neighbor, and her step-mom, she has a lot to learn before the night can finally end. I always like watching this one!

4. A Christmas Kiss
Alright - this might be the silliest Christmas movie there is, I admit....but I love watching it hahah. The story is just so unrealistic to the point where it makes you laugh. An aspiring interior designer, Wendy, dresses up (complete with makeup that makes her unrecognizable) for a night on the town with her two girlfriends and has to run a quick errand for her boss. On her elevator ride down, she is joined by a well-dressed, handsome guy. Suddenly, the elevator begins to crash, so they do what any normal people would do while an elevator is falling - they kiss! Lol! The rest of the movie follows the two of them, as the guy turns out to be Wendy's boss's boyfriend. Yikes!

5. Merry Kissmas
This one is a lot like A Christmas Kiss - it has the same kind of spur-of-the-moment elevator kiss in it (maybe I should hang out in elevators more often! Heheh). Kayla is engaged to marry choreographer Carlton who devotes all his time to his musical and treats Kayla as hardly anything more than his assistant. With their relationship on the rocks, Kayla manages to kiss a total stranger, Sebastian, in an elevator while running away from a nosy fan of Carlton's. The rest of the movie, Karla tries to salvage her broken relationship with Carlton while falling for Sebastian at the same time.

6. The Spirit of Christmas
This one has become one of my favorites. Kate, a lawyer, is sent to appraise and sell a haunted bed and breakfast. Despite the inn's manager warning her that the resident ghost will not approve, Kate takes matters into her own hands. She unexpectedly encounters the spirit, Daniel, when he returns to life just as he has each December for the past 95 years. Kate ends up spending all her time trying to break Daniel's curse rather than selling the inn and falls for him in the process. I will say I didn't really get how the ending worked, but overall it's one of the best ones on Netflix!

7. Snowed Inn Christmas
I watched this for the first time a little while ago, and I enjoyed it sooo much. Kevin (played by Andrew Walker 😍) and Jenna work together at a publication company and both volunteer for a special writing assignment during Christmas time. Bad weather strikes, and they're forced to land in none other than Santa Claus, Indiana. Their focus shifts from the assignment to saving the inn, owned by Chris and Carol Winters (any guesses who they might be??🎅🏻🤶🏻), who help bring the two together throughout the movie. It's a typical sappy, cute Lifetime movie that I think you'll love!

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of Christmas week xoxo
